How to use the mood board maker

Start with one piece you are sure about and pin it first. Everything else on the board should answer to it: a coat you want to build a winter around, a dress for a wedding, a pair of trousers you already own and never know what to wear with.

Then add the supporting pieces from the library tabs or with Add photos. Shop screenshots work well. So do photos of places, because a board is about mood as much as clothes: a library desk says something a tweed blazer alone cannot.

As you pin, the Colors from your board panel fills with the main colors it finds in your images. If one color keeps showing up that you did not plan, that is worth noticing. Pin the chips when you are happy with them; they update by themselves if you swap pieces later.

Layouts

  • Grid lines everything up in equal cells. It is the clearest way to compare pieces side by side.
  • Collage scatters and tilts items with some overlap, like a real corkboard. Press it again to reshuffle.
  • Columns stacks items in two or three columns at their natural shape, like a lookbook page.

Every layout can be undone, and you can keep moving things by hand afterwards.

Saving and sharing

The board saves itself in this browser as you work, so you can close the tab and come back. To keep it anywhere else, use Download PNG: you get a 3000 by 3750 pixel image (4:5), large enough to print on letter paper or post to a phone screen. Nothing is uploaded when you export either; the image is drawn in your browser.

Mood board maker questions

Where is my board saved?

In your browser's local storage on this device. It stays until you clear the board or your browser data. It does not sync between devices, so download a PNG if you want a copy elsewhere.

Why did a photo not save after reload?

Browsers give each site a few megabytes of storage. The maker shrinks photos to keep them small, but a board with many large photos can fill it, and private browsing modes may not keep anything. The maker tells you when that happens; download a PNG to be safe.

Can I use photos with transparent backgrounds?

Yes. PNG or WebP files with transparency are pinned as cutouts without a frame. Regular photos get a white instant-photo border, which you can switch off with the Frame button.

Is the board size fixed?

Yes, it is a 4:5 portrait board. That keeps it readable on a phone and gives a predictable PNG size.
