Fashion mood board templates
Six finished boards. Open any of them in the maker, move things around, swap pieces for your own photos, and download your version.
A template saves you from the blank board. Each one below is built the same way: one place photo or anchor piece, three to five garments and accessories, a short note, and a strip of color chips. The pieces come from the maker's library, so everything on them can be moved, resized, deleted or replaced.
Use them as a starting point rather than a shopping list. The quickest way to make a template yours is to keep its colors and replace one or two pieces with things you already own; the board then shows you what the rest of your wardrobe needs to look like.

salt air, linen, nothing ironed
Coastal linen mood board
- Pieces
- linen shirt, linen drawstring trousers, straw tote, leather slides
- Colors
- chalk, sand, straw, sea glass, deep sea blue
- Good for
- summer trips, warm-weather capsule wardrobes, a relaxed wedding guest look
The coastal look is mostly about fabric: linen that is allowed to wrinkle, natural straw, leather that softens with wear. The colors stay close to things you would find on a beach, which is why the palette is built from off-whites and sand with one cool note of sea glass blue.
To adapt it, keep the textures and change the weight. Swap the shirt for a linen vest if you run hot, or add a navy knit for evenings. If beige washes you out, try the same board with white and navy instead; the mood survives because it lives in the textures.

library at 4pm. wool, not polyester.
Dark academia mood board
- Pieces
- herringbone tweed blazer, black turtleneck, pleated wool trousers, oxblood loafers, silk scarf
- Colors
- near-black, tweed brown, oxblood, old paper, bottle green
- Good for
- fall and winter work outfits, a cohesive cold-weather capsule
Dark academia borrows from old university wardrobes: tailored wool, dark knits, polished leather. The board pins a library photo first because the aesthetic is as much about a setting as about clothes, and that photo sets the light and the color temperature for everything else.
The colors are deep and warm. The one thing to watch is contrast: an all-dark board can look heavy on screen and in real life. The old-paper beige chip and the scarf's cream border are there to break it up. If you prefer softer looks, replace the black turtleneck with a cream one and the board turns into a lighter, cozier version of the same idea.

fewer, better. no visible logos.
Quiet luxury mood board
- Pieces
- camel wrap coat, oatmeal cashmere crewneck, black top-handle bag, gold hoops, loafers
- Colors
- oatmeal, camel, taupe, charcoal, soft gold
- Good for
- a small high-quality capsule, office wear, travel outfits
Quiet luxury is a label for clothes that look expensive without saying so: good fabric, simple shapes, no logos. On a board that translates to fewer items with more space around them, and a palette of neutrals that all sit close to each other in warmth.
The paper background is deliberate: a busy cork texture would fight the calm. Use this template when you want to plan a handful of pieces that work together for years. A useful test is to ask whether you could wear every item on the board with every other item. With this palette the answer is usually yes.

black, white, one tortoiseshell thing.
90s minimal mood board
- Pieces
- black satin slip dress, black merino turtleneck, tortoiseshell sunglasses, black bag, white sneakers
- Colors
- black, off-white, warm gray, tortoiseshell brown, stone
- Good for
- evening outfits, a pared-back everyday uniform
The 90s minimal look runs on black, white and a few precise shapes: a bias-cut slip dress, a fine turtleneck, clean sneakers. The board has no place photo, on purpose; the clothes carry it, and an empty paper background reads as part of the style.
Try layering on the board before you try it in real life: drag the turtleneck so it sits behind the slip dress and you can see the classic dress-over-knit combination. The tortoiseshell sunglasses add the only warm color, which keeps the palette from looking flat.

low rise, tiny bag, tinted everything
Y2K mood board
- Pieces
- powder blue baby tee, light wash flared jeans, pink shield sunglasses, lilac baguette bag, white sneakers
- Colors
- baby blue, bubblegum pink, lilac, light denim, pearl
- Good for
- festival and summer outfits, playing with color
Y2K style is fun precisely because it is loud: small tops, low-rise denim, tinted lenses, shiny little bags. The palette is pastel but saturated, which is harder to wear than it looks. Seeing the pieces on one board helps you decide how many pastels you actually want at once.
A practical way to use this template is to keep one or two Y2K pieces and ground the rest. Pin the flared jeans with the canvas chore jacket from the library, for example, and you get a toned-down version you might wear on a normal Tuesday.

pockets you actually use. it should age well.
Workwear mood board
- Pieces
- canvas chore jacket, raw denim jeans, oatmeal knit, white sneakers, tortoiseshell sunglasses
- Colors
- duck canvas brown, indigo, ecru, olive, charcoal
- Good for
- weekend outfits, a durable everyday capsule
Workwear style takes cues from clothes made for physical work: heavy cotton canvas, raw denim, practical pockets. Much of the appeal is in how it ages. Raw denim fades with wear and canvas softens, so this board is about choosing things you will keep.
The palette is earthy and easy to extend. Olive, ecru and indigo all go with each other, so adding a piece in any of those colors usually works. The kraft background repeats the brown of the canvas, which makes the board feel cohesive at a glance.
How to adapt any template
- Keep the palette, swap the pieces. The color chips are the most reusable part of a template. Replace garments with your own photos and keep an eye on the color story.
- Change the place photo. One photo of a setting changes the whole mood. Your own photo of a street, a room or a landscape you love is often better than any stock image.
- Rewrite the note. The note is for you. Write the one sentence that describes what you want, in your own words.
- Remove one thing. Before you download, take the weakest item off. Boards almost always get better with one piece fewer.
